The Alexa app supports calling on iPhone and iOS versions 9.0 and higher and on Android 5.0 or higher.Making phone calls has become quite easy. With the contacts synced with the Alexa app, you have to just say, “Alexa, call (Contact).” You can also receive a call. Alexa will let you know through a green light on the Echo device. This problem can happen for reasons unknown and it can be unexpected. But worry not! There are several troubleshooting methods that can fix the Alexa call not working problem. The most common reason for this Alexa Calling Not Working issue could be the Echo device not connected to Wi-Fi. 

Method 1: Check The Wireless Connection

  • Open the Alexa app on your smartphone.
  • At the very bottom of the Alexa app, tap on the Devices option.
  • Tap Echo & Alexa on the screen.
  • Select the Amazon Echo device.
  • Tap the Wireless Network option and check the wireless settings.
  • If you have made changes to the wireless password, tap the Change option and update your Wi-Fi password.

Method 2: Update The Alexa App

An outdated app can also be one of the problems behind Alexa calls not working. The safest thing to do is to update the Alexa app and see if the call goes.

On Android:

  • Open Google Play Store.
  • Search for Alexa and tap the Search icon.
  • The Alexa app page will open. Tap on the Update button.

On iOS:

  • Open the App Store.
  • Search for the Alexa app and tap on the Search icon.
  • Tap Update or the Cloud button on the page to update the Alexa app. It this method doesn't fix the Alexa Calling Not Working issue, follow the next method.  

Method 3: Do A Factory Reset On Echo Dot

  • Open the Alexa app on your smartphone.
  • Tap the Devices option on the screen.
  • Tap on the Echo & Alexa option.
  • Select the Echo device from the list.
  • Scroll down to Device Settings and select the Factory Reset option.
  • Tap the Factory Reset button for confirmation.
  • Once the factory reset is done, reconnect the Amazon Echo device to the Wi-Fi network.

Follow one or more of the mentioned methods and you will have solved the Alexa calling not working issue.
