First, you have to connect the Wi-Fi router to an ADSL modem using the RJ-45 crossover cable.

Next, connect the Wi-Fi router and your Windows computer with the help of a standard Ethernet cable.

The Wi-Fi router’s WAN port should be connected to the ADSL modem, and the LAN port should be connected to the computer.

Power up the devices and check whether the router’s amber light turns solid green or white.

On your computer, open the default browser and enter the router’s IP address in the URL field.

If you did not know the router’s IP address, click the Start menu and type ‘cmd’ in the search panel.

Hit the Enter key and give a right-click on the Command Prompt app from the search result.

Next, select Run as administrator from the context menu to launch the Command Prompt app as an administrator.

In the Command Prompt window, type the ipconfig command and hit the Enter key.

Scroll down to the Default Gateway section and note down the router’s IP address.

Otherwise, you can directly find the IP address printed on the label attached to the rear of the router.

Return to the router’s login portal and log in with the default username and password.

On the router’s administrative interface, click the Settings or Administration tab.

Enter a strong password that can be easily remembered in the Router Password field.

If prompted, re-enter the new password.

Once you have changed the default password, click the Apply or Save button.

Now, log out from the administrative interface.

When you try to log in to the router’s administrative interface the next time, you cannot access with the help of the default password.

Instead, you have to enter the newly created password.
