  • On the desktop of your Mac computer, click the Mail icon at the upper-left corner of the screen and select the Preferences option.

  • As soon as the Add Account dialog window opens, fill the Full Name, Email Address, and Password fields with the correct information.
  • Click the Continue button in the Add Account window.
  • Choose either the POP or IMAP protocol from the Account Type drop-down menu.
  • If needed, fill the Description field. Ensure that you have provided valid information in the User Name and Password fields.
  • If you have chosen the POP protocol, type pop-mail.outlook.com in the Incoming Mail Server field.
  • If you have selected the IMAP protocol, type imap-mail.outlook.com in the Incoming Mail Server field.
  • Once you finish the incoming server settings, click the Continue button in the Incoming Mail Server dialog window.
  • Make sure to choose the Password option from the Authentication drop-down list.
  • Also, select the checkbox next to the ‘Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)’ option.
  • Click Continue in the Incoming Mail Security dialog window.
  • When the Outgoing Mail Server dialog window opens, fill the optional Description field and enter smtp-mail.outlook.com in the Outgoing Mail Server field.
  • After selecting the checkbox beside the Use Authentication option, enter valid details in the User Name and Password fields and click the Continue button in the Outgoing Mail Server dialog window.
  • Check the details that you have entered so far when the Account Summary dialog window opens.
  • After selecting the Take Account Online option, click the Create button.
  • This will create the Outlook account on the Mac Mail application.
