HP 8710 Printhead Replacement

Printheads help in transferring ink from the cartridges, and this ink will be in the form of droplets. They will be transferred onto the paper. If there is a loss in the print quality, then it is time to replace the printhead. The printheads may stop working due to infrequent cartridge use. REMOVE THE OLD PRINTHEAD:
First, you need to remove the old printhead with the ink cartridge from the printer before installing the new printhead.
- Press the Power button to switch on the printer.
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Power off the printer and then unplug the power cord from the printer.
- Lift the latch handle on the cartridge and grasp the printhead by its sides.
- Now, remove the printhead out of the printer.
- You should not remove the cartridges from the printhead.
- In case you remove the cartridges from the old printhead, then it may start to leak.
- After removing the old printhead from the printer, set it aside on a paper with the nozzle facing upward.
INSTALL NEW PRINTHEAD INTO THE PRINTER:
- Unpack the new printhead and cartridges from the package.
- While inserting the new printhead into the printer, ensure the nozzle does not touch or rub on any printer parts.
- Hold the printhead on both sides with the electrical contacts facing the printer’s rear and insert the printhead into the respective slot.
- Now, carefully lower the latch handle on the cartridge.
- Load a sheet of paper into the input tray.
- To avoid startup failures, use the new cartridges that come with the new printhead.
- Now, unpack the new cartridges from the package.
- Make sure to match the letters on the cartridges to the carriage letters and insert the cartridges into the correct slot.
- Push the cartridges into the respective slots.
- After installing the new cartridges into the printer, close the ink cartridge access door.
- Turn on your HP 8710 printer.
- Now, the printer will start an initialization process which may take some time.
