In most of the situations, paper jams occur due to some technical issue. Sometimes, the printer shows a “Paper jam” error even if there is no jamming. Remove The Loose Paper Inside The Tray
- Hit the Power button on your printer to switch it off.
- Remove the USB cable that is connected to the printer.
- Remove the power cord from the electrical slot.
- Look for any loose paper in the input tray and remove it.
- Search for the input tray and remove any other objects that might have fallen into it.
- Work with your fingers to rotate the pick mechanism attached just inside the input tray.
- Thoroughly check for any loosened paper or foreign materials that are stuck in the output tray.
Connect the power cord, turn on your printer, and check if the problem is solved.
Clean the paper feed rollers
Sometimes, the dust particles or paper fibers can cause the paper jam error.
- Turn off your printer and remove the power cord from the electrical outlet.
- Lift the input tray and look for the gray paper pick rollers.
- Take a cotton swab and distilled water; spray the water on the cotton swab.
- Press the swab against the rollers and roll it upward with your fingers. Don't put more pressure to remove the dust or dirt buildup.
- Allow the rollers to dry for 10 to 15 minutes.
Connect the power cord and check if the problem is solved.
Clear out paper jam from underneath the printer
- Turn off your printer and remove the power cord from the electrical outlet.
- Carefully place your printer sideways so that you may be able to open the cleanout door which is underneath the printer.
- Press both the tabs to easily open the cleanout door.
- Look for any jammed paper. Remove it and any foreign materials inside the printer.
- Carefully push the door forward until it slides into its original place.
- Place your printer back in its normal position and then search inside the input tray for any foreign objects.
Connect the power cord and check if the problem is solved.
Clear the paper jam via the ink cartridge door
- Turn off your printer and remove the power cord from the electrical outlet.
- Open the cartridge access door and look for any stuck paper; if so, remove the stuck paper inside the printer and clear all the bits inside it.
- Close the printer cartridge access door gently.
Connect the power cord and check if the problem is solved.
Resetting the printer
As mentioned earlier, sometimes, paper jam error occurs even though there are no paper jams.
- If that is the situation, you need to disconnect the power cord without turning off your printer.
- Take out the power cord from the electrical outlet.
- Wait for a minute.
- Connect the power cord and check if the problem is solved.
