- Once the router login page appears, enter the username and password. The router’s default username is “admin” and password is “password.”
- In the address bar, click the red alert icon beside ‘Not secure.’
- On the next screen, select Certificate (Invalid), click the Details tab, and choose Copy to file.
- Now, the installation wizard will be launched, click Next.
- Select the DER encoded binary X.509 (.CER) certificate option and click Next.
- Save the certificate and select Next > Finish > OK.
- Open the certificate you have saved.
- In the next window, under General, click Install Certificate and then select Next.
- Click the radio button beside the Place all certificates in the following store option.
- Now, browse for the Trusted Root Certification Authorities and click OK.
- Click Next and then click Finish to save the certificates.
On Mozilla Firefox:
- On the computer, open the Firefox browser.
- Visit the unsecured Netgear router login website where you see the security alert message.
- Select Advanced > View Certificate and the login window will open.
- Go to the Details panel and select Export.
- Choose a location to export and click Save.
- Open the folder where you saved the certificates and open the file.
- Select Install Certificate.
- In the installation window, click Next and select the Permanently store this exception option.
- Find the Trusted Root Certification Authorities file and click OK > Next > Finish.
